Oops, my bad. There are no back sliders among the faithful here, so what
about back trackers?

Bushnell and Backpackgeartest.org are proud to announce that three lucky
testers are going to get a chance to back step with the BACKTRACK GPS
PERSONAL LOCATION FINDER.

I tested this out at the Open Air Demos at the OR Show. It's neat. You'll
see an app from me later tonight!

Please accept my application to test the Bushnell BackTrack GPS Locator. Not sure about back-sliding, but I seem to spend far too much of my time backtracking (verbally and physically)!!! If there is a choice of color, can I request pink please?

DISCLAIMER
My test agreement was mailed July 2008. I agree to comply with all of the test requirements, including Chapter 5, found in the
BackpackGearTest.org bylaws v. 0609.

Name: Sophie Pearson

Gender: Female
Height: 5' 8" (1.71 m)
Weight: 179 lb (81 kg)

Location: Tampa, Florida USA

BACKPACKING BACKGROUND
I first started backpacking as a teenager in England. I did a 28-day trip in the Arctic, but most of my backpacking experience has been weekend to 10-day trips, in a range of terrains and climates. I am a
volcanologist so I also do day hikes carrying loaded packs over intense terrain. Nowadays I am generally in sub-tropical climates. I am heading increasingly towards ultralight packing, and unless I am sharing I use a hammock. I try to pack under 20 lb (9 kg) for long weekend trips but have carried over 50 lb (23 kg).

TEST PLAN
Locations - California, England, Italy, Oregon, Florida, possibly North Carolina. In forests, woods, unshaded parks, on volcanoes, mountains, rivers and oceans, and in cities. Temperatures 40-95 F (4-35 C). Elevation 0-10000 ft (0-3000 m). At least 10 nights, most of them one- or two-nighters.

Looking at - ease of use, range of functions, ability to find a signal, distance accuracy compared to full GPS and maps, compass reliability, weather resistance, durability, size and weight, battery insertion, battery life.

PREVIOUS TESTS
10 test reports and 6 ORs here
http://www.backpackgeartest.org/tester_reviews/sophp333

CURRENTLY TESTING
SolHuma Vital Stove (LTR uploaded, awaiting editing)
Royal Robbins Zip N Go Pant (LTR 11 Aug)
Essential Gear K2 Focus headlamp (LTR 11 Aug)
Warbonnet Outdoors Blackbird Hammock (FR 11 Aug)
Suisse Sport Sleeping Bag (FR in 2 months-ish)
Solar Safe Wristbands (who knows what's going on???!!!)

Quite a few but a lot of them are finishing in the next couple of weeks. I would love to test this GPS as I have a legendary ability to get lost and/or lose my car, lead lots of trips to unknown areas, and travel worldwide, where a more sophisticated GPS can require additional (expensive) software.

MONITORING
Cedar Tree The Packa (FR 11 Aug)

APPS OUT
Ultimate Survival WetFire Stove

Many thanks for your consideration. I tried to keep it brief but feel free to let me know if it is too short/not short enough for future reference!
Cheers,
Sophie
